Maintenance
The State of Utah requires alternative septic systems to be inspected twice a year. Since these systems are permitted in environmentally sensitive areas, it's crucial to ensure that they are functioning properly.

Alternative septic system technology is highly reliable when properly maintained. When neglected, however, it is only a matter of time before the system has problems. We proudly offer maintenance services on every system that we install and have full time staff dedicated to making sure these systems are maintained and taken care of.

What do we do when we maintain a system?
We pull apart the main components of the system and clean everything — this includes the pumps, filters and screens, floats, and valves. We take samples from the system to make sure the water meets regulatory requirements. The electrical components of the system are all inspected, such as pump amps, float connections, and control panel outputs. Readings are taken from the system to verify how much water the household is using, and timer settings on the system are adjusted. Measurements are taken from the different tanks to track how many solids are accumulating in each tank, and determine if any of the tanks need to be pumped out. Any worn or faulty components are replaced, and any major problems are noted and addressed.

How much does maintenance cost?
The cost of alternative septic system maintenance is similar to what most people pay annually for a sewer connection. Most Northern Utah systems can be serviced for $500/year.
